ISLS Student Guesthouse

ISLS offers a Guest House for our Spanish students in La Guacima de Alajuela, which is very near the international airport SJO. It is only available to our students in Costa Rica, it is not available to the general public. It is a great place to stay and get comfortable when entering the country for the first time. Students who plan on traveling around the country after their Spanish program is over can use the guesthouse as their home base. The house is also available for students needing a place to stay their final night in country. We offer airport pick up and drop off services that include night’s stay at the house and breakfast.

This is a true guesthouse experience. Students are hosted by a local Costa Rican family that runs the house. Francini Salas is our ISLS office manager and her husband Carlos Cambronero is our driver. They will also be your hosts while you stay at their home. The guesthouse is located just 10 minutes away from the San Jose International Airport in a beautiful country setting. The town of La Guacima is a typical small rural Costa Rican town.

The guesthouse is situated on over 1 acre of land. There is a pond on the property and areas outdoors to relax and enjoy the countryside. There are two building; the main house and a back house. The main house is where the hosts live and there are two private rooms. In the back house there are four shared rooms and a students living area. There is cable TV and wireless internet. Students have access to the main kitchen and all bedrooms have in suite bathrooms with showers and hot water.

Room Rates

If you are registered in the Welcome to Costa Rica Program, your accommodations at the ISLS Travelers Guest House are included in the cost of the Program. Also, the airport pick up and drop off services include one night of lodging, unless otherwise requested.

Additional nights of lodging are available for students needing more than are included in the pick up, drop off or Welcome Program. The nightly Room Rates are as follows:

• Free storage while you’re traveling including a secure locker for valuables.
• Use of kitchen, living room, and other amenities.
• The house is spacious and comfortable, with capacity available for 18 people.
• There is a nice sitting are near the pond where you can relax and soak up some sun while you study Spanish.

There are both private and shared accommodations available. You can choose to stay in a room alone, with 3 people, or with 5 other people in a bunk bed room if cost is your main concern. All linens, towels and maid service are included. The rooms and bathrooms are cleaned daily.
