Family Programs
We at ISLS are a family-friendly Spanish institute. We have the best and most diverse programs for families with children of any language school. No matter how many members make up your family or what their ages, we can accommodate them. Our Kindergarten Spanish Program is a one of a kind program, as is our Summer Children’s Spanish, Art and Sports Camp. We also offer our Teen Spanish Camps as day camps if the students are traveling with their parents. In addition we have great programs and lodging options for families. We have houses, apartments, condos and villas. We even have host families that can accommodate more than three people.

Located at our Turrialba, Costa Rica, campus, this is a program for 1½ to 7 year old children. The program is run in association with a private preschool/kindergarten for Costa Rican children. It is a half day program and takes place at the same time as the adult program. This is a Spanish immersion children’s program where they will be taught in Spanish and will be with students that only speak Spanish. They will play with the children during recess; there are art lessons, as well as time on computers and games. This is NOT a structured program where they will have Spanish workbooks and a set curriculum.
This special Children’s Spanish Immersion Program is located at four of our campuses in Costa Rica; Arenal, Playa Dominical, Playa Tamarindo and Turrialba. This is for children ages 8 to 13 years old. It takes place at our Spanish Immersion Centers and the class schedule is the same as our adult programs. This way parents and children taking Spanish lessons can take them at the same time. The classes are geared toward this age group, meaning that it is a combination of in class study with out of class activities and games in Spanish. We have teachers that are specially trained for our 8 to 13 year old age group.
ISLS is a world leader in Youth Summer Spanish Camps. We have five different camps for teenagers: Teen Surf and Spanish, Teen Travel and Adventure, Teen Volunteer and Spanish, Teen Adventure and Spanish and Teen Spanish and Surf Expedition, . We also have the one of a kind Children’s Art, Sports and Spanish Camp in Playa Tamarindo, Costa Rica for kids age 2 to 13. These programs are all designed to be fun and adventurous experiences where young people learn Spanish and experience a different culture. By combining Spanish lessons, adventure activities and different main activity, students can experience new challenges or perfect those they already enjoy. There are also different levels of Spanish and cultural intensity to each program. The Surf and Spanish program is perfect for those students who would like a less intensive cultural and Spanish experience. The Spanish and Volunteer program is specifically for serious Spanish students who want to be immersed in the language and culture. With the Travel Camp we focus on travel and adventure activities, with less Spanish lessons. Whatever you are looking for with regard to a Spanish camp in Costa Rica for your child, we have it.
Teens over the age of 14 can participate in any of our programs year round as long as they are accompanied by an adult or chaperon. Only in very special cases are teens allowed to participate in adult programs by themselves. At select locations, families will receive a 10% discount off their Spanish language classes. We guarantee that all members of the family will have the same class schedule, meaning that they will either all have morning classes or afternoon classes. All students receive an oral and written evaluation on the first day of the program to determine class placement. This is a great way for older teens and their parents to have a great immersion experience together. There is also the option during the summer to have your teen participate in our teen camps as a day student. This means that they can stay with you, but spend their days doing age appropriate activities with other teenagers. Please Contact Us for more information and locations. |
